Nobile crater

Nobile crater is a lunar impact crater situated close to the southern pole of the Moon. It is located south of the Scott crater, along the western rim of Amundsen. The crater was formed through a collision with another smaller celestial body. It was formerly known as Scott A before the name Nobile was given by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
Nobile was chosen as the landing site of the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER) – NASA’s ice-seeking rover. The landing is expected to take place in 2023. The landing site is one of the solar system’s coldest regions.
