Palmetum

The Palmetum, which was inaugurated recently, is a specialized botanical park in Uttarakhand. Developed by the research wing of the state forest department, it is the biggest such botanical park in the whole of North India.
The Palmetum has around 100 different species of Palms. Its purpose is the conservation and promotion of palm species. It also aims to promote public awareness about the importance of palms in the ecological conservations. It has been completed in a period of three years. The outlay for the project is Rs.16 lakh. It was funded through the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Act of the Central Government.
