School Chalen Hum Campaign Begins in Madhya Pradesh

The Madhya Pradesh government has launched the four-day ‘School Chalen Hum’ campaign to mark the start of the new academic session and strengthen school enrolment across the state. The drive, linked with the ‘Pravesh Utsav’, aims to ensure that every child enters school and receives timely learning support. It reflects the state’s focus on universal education, reduced dropout rates, and improved learning outcomes.

Campaign Objectives

  • The campaign runs from April 1 to April 4 across all 55 districts and more than 50,000 villages.
  • It seeks to motivate children to join classrooms at the beginning of the academic year.
  • It supports the timely distribution of textbooks, workbooks, and bridge course material.
  • It reinforces the goal of inclusive and quality education for all children.

Education Support Measures

  • More than 5.6 crore textbooks are being distributed for the new session.
  • Foundational literacy workbooks and bridge courses are part of the learning support package.
  • Uniforms, bicycles, and financial assistance are being provided to students.
  • Admission processes for Classes 1, 6, and 9 have been simplified.

Enrollment and School Performance

  • The state reported zero dropout at the primary level.
  • Overall school enrolment has risen by 19.6 per cent for 2025-26.
  • Government schools have recorded a 32.4 per cent increase in enrolment.
  • The enrolment target for the current session has been set at 1.45 crore students.

Institutional Reforms and Welfare Focus

  • Sandipani Vidyalayas have been upgraded as model schools with modern facilities.
  • PM-SHRI Schools are also contributing to a shift of students from private schools to government schools.
  • Under the National Education Policy 2020, new Hindi and local-language textbooks are being distributed.
  • The state has also expanded teacher appointments, hostels, laptops for meritorious students, and scooter support for toppers.
