The 39th Surajkund International Crafts Mela is underway in Faridabad, Haryana, with strong public participation and a focus on India’s craft traditions. The annual fair has been positioned as a platform for artisans, folk performers and cultural exhibitors from across the country and abroad. This year’s theme is Vocal to Global, with Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya as the theme states and Egypt participating as the partner nation.

Theme and Cultural Focus

The Mela marks India’s handmade crafts, folk arts and regional cuisines. Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya are showcasing their cultural identity through stalls, performances and traditional products. The inclusion of Egypt adds an international dimension to the event.

Support for Artisans

The fair is designed to promote self-reliance among artists and craft workers. It provides a commercial and cultural platform for artisans from India and other countries. Many participants belong to families that have continued the craft tradition across generations.
