Mahajanapadas

The Mahajanapadas were ancient Indian kingdoms. They emerged around the 6th century BCE. There were sixteen major states. These included Magadha, Kosala, and Vatsa. Each had its own governance and culture. The Mahajanapadas played a crucial role in early Indian history. They contributed to the development of trade and urbanisation. Their influence shaped the political landscape of ancient India.
