Thermopolium

A thermopolium is a Latin term used to describe hot drinks counter. Recently, researchers have unearthed a thermopolium in the Roman Empire town of Pompeii, one of the world’s largest and significant archaeological sites. This find is significant because it revealed variety of food consumed by residents in town. Traces of pork, fish, snails and beef were found in the containers of the stall. It is also the first time an entire thermopolium was excavated.
