UP Govt to launch ‘Kisan Kalyan Mission’

Uttar Pradesh government is going to launch a special program to double the farmers’ income. The program has been named as Kisan Kalyan Mission.

  • The mission will cover all the assembly constituencies of the state that will be launched with the aim of doubling the income of the farmers.
  • Under it, various programs will be organised all across the state.
  • Under the mission. exhibitions of agriculture and Associate sectors will be organised.
  • It will also include the products of MSME sector units and livelihood missions.
  • Farmer meetings will also be organised under which, progressive farmers, scientist and workers associated with Agriculture Department would explain the scientific farming. The meeting would also provide information about the schemes of government.
  • Farmers would be given benefit under several schemes of agriculture department during these events.
  • Under the Kisan Kalyan mission, departments of state government such as agriculture marketing Mandi Parishad, Horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry, sugarcane food and supply and Panchayati Raj would work together.

Department of agriculture, UP

It was established in the year 1875. The work of the department was limited to collect the data and establish the model farms. The department was affiliated with land record department in 1880. The department came under the jurisdiction of state government under government of India act 1919. The department was formally established on May 1st, 1920. The activities of the department included- Crop Cultivation, soil conservation, sugarcane production and Horticulture. But after independence, activities relate to sugar cane production was transferred to newly formed Sugar cane department.
