UP?s Population Policy 2021-2030

The Uttar Pradesh state government unveiled a new Population Policy 2021-2030 on the occasion of this year?s World Population Day (July 11). Its provisions will be implemented after one year of gazette notification.
The policy aims to address the ills arising from the increasing population. It provides incentives and disincentives for the promotion of the two-child norm in the state. The objective is to reduce the fertility rate among women to 2.1 by 2026 and to 1.9 by 2030. It also seeks to reduce preventable maternal mortality, infant mortality and child mortality while also improving the nutritional security.
