Where is Mahananda Wildlife sanctuary?

Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is situated at the foothills of the Himalayas, between the Teesta and Mahananda rivers in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. It received sanctuary status mainly to protect the Indian bison and royal Bengal tiger. Recently, Darjeeling Wildlife Division announced that the first bird festival will be conducted from February 20 to 23 in this sanctuary. This sanctuary, designated as “important bird area”, is known for having more than 300 species of birds.
