World Maritime Day

The World Maritime Day was observed for the first time on March 17, 1978. It seeks to highlight the crucial role played by the shipping sector in the global economic growth. The theme for this year is “Seafarers: at the core of shipping’s future”. It focuses on the difficulties faced by the seafarers during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite bring critical for the seamless functioning of the global supply chains.
