Zolfaghar-1400

An annual war game which is organized by Iran is known as the Zolfaghar-1400.

Highlights

In the year 2021 it happened on the coast of the Gulf of Oman. Iranian Navy as well as air force participated in this exercise. The exercise took place in an area of ??1 million square kilometers in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz. The strait is very important because 30% of the world’s oil transport passes through this strait. The exercise was held to improve the Iranian army’s readiness to face foreign threats. Zolfaghar 1400 2021 was held in the tension between Iran and the United States. Tensions arose when the United States withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. As part of the plan, Iran agreed to reduce uranium enrichment and the United States agreed to lift sanctions on Iran. After the withdrawal of the United States, Iran claimed to have stored 20% enriched uranium weighing 210 kilograms. In the south eastern provinces of Iran, namely Hormozgan, Baluchestan, coasts of Makran and Sistan the Zolfaghar exercises was conducted.

About Zolfaghar missile

This is an Iranian short-range missile. It was introduced in the year 2016. In the year 2017, Iranian forces used Zolfaghar missiles to engage targets in Syria. A single-stage solid-propelled rocket capable of carrying 500 kg of explosives. The destruction range is 700 km. Zolfaghar’s latest version is named Dezful.  Dezful was released in the year 2019. Dezful’s has a range of 1000 km. Qasem which has a range of 1400 km is the third missile based on the Zolfaghar system.
