The North Eastern Region Agri-Commodity E-Connect (NE-RACE) portal has become a fully operational digital platform for linking farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations, Self Help Groups and cooperatives in the North Eastern Region with buyers across India. The platform aims to improve market access, reduce dependence on local intermediaries, and strengthen direct buyer-seller connections for agri-produce from the region.
Platform Coverage and Scale
As on 23 January 2026, the portal had onboarded 6,807 sellers, including farmers and Farmer Producer Companies, along with 735 buyers. A total of 1,797 agri-commodities were listed on the platform. Sales facilitated through NE-RACE reached ₹895.56 lakh, showing growing use of the portal for trade in agricultural goods.
Benefits for Sikkim Farmers
The platform has also supported farmers in Sikkim by improving access to national markets. Buyers from Sikkim have procured 130 metric tonnes of agri-produce valued at ₹54.40 lakh through the portal. As on 23 January 2026, 251 farmers from Sikkim had been onboarded. Five outreach and onboarding programmes have been conducted in the State to expand participation.
Support Mechanism and Outreach
NE-RACE provides a multi-lingual helpdesk and helpline for onboarding and operational support. It also offers field-level assistance and State Coordinators to help with communication, issue resolution and logistics-related guidance. These services are designed to improve digital market readiness among farmers in the North East.
Future Expansion Measures
International Buyer–Seller Meets have been identified as an important measure to widen outreach and improve market linkages further. The platform is expected to continue supporting direct trade, better price realisation and stronger integration of North Eastern agricultural produce with wider markets.
