CWC Marks 70 Years of Warehousing Growth

The Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) celebrated its 70th Foundation Day in New Delhi, denoting seven decades of service in warehousing, logistics and support to India’s food security system. The event also underlined the organisation’s expanding role in integrated logistics, digital modernisation and supply chain efficiency.

Foundation Day Celebration

The 70th Foundation Day was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on 2 March 2026. The event brought together the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the Minister of State, senior ministry officials, and CWC personnel. The occasion marked CWC’s long-standing contribution to storage, movement and management of essential commodities.

CWC’s Role in Logistics

CWC has evolved beyond traditional warehousing into a broader logistics organisation. It now supports infrastructure development, logistics expansion and service integration. The organisation has been encouraged to aim for Maharatna status and to contribute to India’s objective of becoming one of the top 25 global logistics performers.

Financial Performance in FY 2024–25

CWC reported its highest-ever turnover of ₹2,776.88 crore in FY 2024–25, compared with ₹2,303.81 crore in the previous year. Profit Before Tax rose to ₹711.60 crore from ₹590.36 crore in FY 2023–24. A dividend of ₹160.10 crore was proposed and paid for the year. The performance reflected strong operational growth and improved efficiency.

Future Expansion Plans

CWC is focusing on infrastructure augmentation, digital transformation, operational efficiency and expansion of integrated logistics services. The aim is to strengthen supply chains and reduce logistics costs. The corporation expects further growth in FY 2025–26, supported by sustained demand and improved performance.
