Bharat-VISTAAR Agricultural AI Platform Launched

Bharat-VISTAAR Agricultural AI Platform Launched

Bharat-VISTAAR, a multilingual, AI-powered Digital Public Infrastructure platform for agriculture, has been launched in Phase I to provide farmers with real-time, location-specific advisories and access to allied services. The initiative has been announced with a total allocation of Rs. 150 crore in the Union Budget 2026–27. It is designed as a unified system that brings together government digital ecosystems and scientific agricultural practices to support farmers with timely and personalised information.

What Bharat-VISTAAR Offers

Bharat-VISTAAR stands for Virtually Integrated System to Access Agricultural Resources. It is a voice-first platform built to serve farmers through multiple channels. These include a dedicated telephone number, a voice-based AI chatbot, a web portal, and a mobile application. The platform is intended to help users access crop advisories, weather updates, market prices, pest and disease alerts, and soil health information.

Phase I Coverage and Access

The Phase I version, launched on 17 February 2026, is available in Hindi and English. It also supports non-smartphone users through voice-based access and an Interactive Voice Response System. This makes the platform more accessible to small and marginal farmers, especially in areas with limited digital penetration.

Integrated Schemes and Expansion Plan

Phase I integrates 10 major Central schemes, including:

  • PM-KISAN
  • PMFBY
  • Soil Health Card
  • Kisan Credit Card
  • Agriculture Infrastructure Fund
  • PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana
  • PM-AASHA
  • Modified Interest Subvention Scheme
  • Per Drop More Crop
  • Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation

The government plans to add four more languages in the next three months and five additional languages in the following six months. The platform will also expand to include state-specific schemes and extension networks.

Data Security and Policy Framework

Bharat-VISTAAR has been developed in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other IT laws. It follows cyber security guidelines issued by MeitY and CERT-In. The system is also subject to periodic security audits and risk monitoring to ensure data protection and operational safety.
