A senior police officer reviewed security arrangements at Mansar Lake, a major tourist destination in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. The inspection focused on tourist safety, public order, surveillance systems and the functioning of local police posts and checkpoints.
Security Review at Tourist Site
Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Anuj Kumar, conducted a detailed visit to the Mansar area. He examined deployment patterns, access control points and surveillance mechanisms. The aim was to ensure a strong security grid around the lake and nearby areas. Special attention was given to the safety of tourists visiting the site.
Inspection of Police Post and Checkpoints
The officer also visited Police Post Mansar and reviewed its functioning. He stressed the need for high alertness, quick response to incidents and efficient public service delivery. Directions were issued for strict surveillance and better coordination at the Mansar police checkposts. Later, he visited the Nud checkpoint and interacted with deployed personnel.
Role of Village Defence Guards
The SSP held an interaction with Village Defence Guard members. Their role in supporting police at the grassroots level was appreciated. They were encouraged to remain vigilant and proactive. The importance of coordination between VDGs and local police units was brought into light to counter possible threats and strengthen local security.
Public Safety and Tourist Protection
The visit underlined the focus of Samba Police on maintaining safety across the district, especially at key tourist locations. Personnel were briefed to follow strict checking procedures, ensure smooth traffic movement and maintain courteous behaviour while dealing with the public. The exercise reflected a broader emphasis on preventive policing and visitor confidence.
