As of 4 July 2026 Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a national benchmark in implementing the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), building a secure, interoperable digital health ecosystem for its 240 million+ population.

Key digital features

  • ABDM deployment: Secure, interoperable platform linking hospitals, providers and patients across the state.
  • ABHA linkage: 130.3 million health records linked to ABHA IDs.
  • Personal Health Record apps: Aarogya Setu 2.0 functions as a PHR for ABHA management and PM-JAY access.
  • Chatbot: Ayushman Sarathi on WhatsApp for beneficiary support and service access.

Health infrastructure

  • Primary care network: 3,754 Primary Health Centres and 976 Community Health Centres (963 rural, 13 urban).
  • Urban primary care: 719 urban primary health centres under the National Urban Health Mission.
  • Medical education expansion: Government medical colleges rose from 17 (pre-2017) to 81 by March 2026.

Program outcomes & data

  • AB-PMJAY reach: Over 5.64 crore validated Ayushman cards issued.
  • TB campaign (100-day): >15 lakh screened; 10.17 lakh X‑rays; 68,273 TB notifications; 72,285 household contacts given preventive treatment.
  • Anaemia Mukt Bharat: Pregnant women 52%→46%, adolescent girls 56.5%→52.9%, children 73.9%→66.4%; IFA coverage 95% in 2024‑25.

Governance & finance

  • Decentralisation: District-level officers authorised to approve and manage Ayushman cards for faster local delivery.
  • Budget: State health budget ₹47,000 crore for 2025‑26; ₹37,956 crore allocated to Medical Health & Family Welfare (15% YoY increase).
