Indian Railways will confer the 70th Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar–2025 on 100 officers and employees for exemplary service and outstanding contributions. The award ceremony will be held on 9 January at the India International Convention and Expo Centre, Yashobhoomi. The honours recognise performance across innovation, safety, operations, project delivery, vigilance, and sports.
Purpose of the Award
The Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar is one of the highest internal recognitions in Indian Railways. It is given to employees who show exceptional commitment in improving railway functioning. The 2025 awards show both individual achievement and institutional performance. The selection reflects the Railways’ focus on efficiency, safety, and service delivery.
Key Areas of Recognition
A total of 100 awardees have been selected from different categories. These include:
- 17 personnel for innovation, improved processes, and better resource use.
- 22 personnel for courage and selfless service in protecting lives and railway property.
- 14 personnel for revenue augmentation and vigilance work, including action against ticketless travel and theft.
- 19 personnel for operations, safety, asset maintenance, and infrastructure protection.
- 16 personnel for completing major projects within record timelines.
- 10 personnel for outstanding work in diverse functional areas.
- 2 sportspersons for national and international achievements.
Institutional Excellence and Zone Awards
Along with individual honours, 26 Shields will be presented to the best-performing Railway Zones across different categories. These shields recognise overall performance, operational discipline, and organisational efficiency. The awards underline the importance of teamwork in a large public transport network.
Operational Significance
The award list includes personnel who maintained safe and uninterrupted services during major events such as the Mahakumbh. It also includes teams linked to Operation Sindoor and those who introduced advanced Ballast Cleaning Machines in difficult sections. These efforts improved track safety, ride quality, and long-term maintenance efficiency.
