Exercise Indra

Exercise Indra is a tri-service exercise between Russia and India. It was initiated as a naval exercise in 2003 and later, in 2017, became a joint tri-service exercise. It aims to strengthen the two armed forces’ interoperability and promote mutual sharing of best practices. It will further fortify the long-standing diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The Indian Navy Ship Tabar is expected to participate in this exercise along with other drills like Ex Konkan and Ex Varuna. It will be held at the Prudboi practice range in the Volgograd Region in southern Russia from August 1 to 15. It will involve some 250 servicemen of the Indian Armed Forces and around 250 personnel from the Russian Army’s Southern Military District.
