The India Open Badminton tournament has begun at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. The Super 750 event is the second tournament of the 2026 BWF World Tour and features several top international players. It also serves as an important preparatory event for the BWF World Championships, which will be held at the same venue in August.
PV Sindhu Leads Indian Challenge
Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will headline India’s campaign in women’s singles. Ranked 18th, she is returning after a difficult 2025 season and a long injury layoff. She recently reached the semi-finals of the Malaysia Open and will look to carry that form into the home event.
Indian Representation Across Categories
India has strong participation across the draw. In women’s singles, Malvika Bansod and Tanvi Sharma are also competing. In women’s doubles, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will lead the home challenge. In mixed doubles, Paris 2024 Olympians Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila are India’s top pair.
