Operation Parhar Launched in Punjab

Punjab Police has launched Operation Parhar to dismantle the gangster network in the state and move towards a gangster-free Punjab. The drive involves large-scale raids, targeted surveillance, and coordinated action against gangsters and their support systems. A dedicated anti-gangster helpline has also been started to encourage public participation in reporting criminal activity.

Massive Statewide Crackdown

Punjab Police has deployed 2,000 teams comprising 12,000 police personnel across the state. These teams have begun raids from to arrest gangsters and disrupt organised crime networks. The operation marks one of the largest coordinated police actions against gang-related crime in the state.

Gangster Network Mapping

Police are identifying and tracking 60 major gangsters and about 1,200 associates linked to criminal activities. The focus is not limited to individual offenders. It also covers the wider ecosystem that sustains organised crime.

Targeting Support Systems

The operation aims to break the full support structure of gangster groups. This includes:

  • Financing channels.
  • Logistics support.
  • Safe houses.
  • Weapon supply chains.
  • Communication networks.

Strict action is planned against all persons involved in these networks.

Public Helpline and Safety Drive

Punjab Police has launched Anti-Gangster Helpline Number 93946-93946. Citizens have been asked to share information on gangster activities in their local areas. The police have assured that the identity of informants will be kept secret. The initiative is part of the wider effort to improve public safety and strengthen law and order in Punjab.
