Phiomicetus Anubis

Phiomicetus Anubis is an extinct species of four-legged whale whose fossil was discovered in EgyptÂ’s Western Desert. This desert region was once covered by sea and is currently rich with diverse fossils. The whale was named after the ancient Egyptian jackal headed god of dead Anubis. It had lived some 43 million years ago.
The newly discovered species is the ancestor of modern whales, which is believed to have evolved from deer-like mammals that dwelled on land over the course of 10 million years. The 10-feet long whale is capable of walking on land as well as swimming in water.
