PM-SETU Nationwide Rollout for Upgraded ITIs

On 7 July 2026 the Centre approved the nationwide rollout of Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) across all 200 identified ITI clusters, and approved Strategic Investment Plans (SIPs) for five clusters totalling ₹1,237.58 crore.

Rollout and Scheme Targets

  • Scale: Nationwide rollout across 200 identified ITI clusters; transition from pilot to full implementation.
  • National target: PM-SETU has a total outlay of ₹60,000 crore over five years to upgrade 1,000 ITIs.
  • Governance: Decision taken at the fourth National Steering Committee meeting of PM-SETU.

Approved Strategic Investment Plans (Five Clusters)

  • Odisha — Barbil hub: Government ITI Barbil as hub; Anchor Industry Partner Jindal Naveen Avasar Ltd; SIP ₹240.21 crore.
  • Gujarat — Surat hub: Government ITI Surat as hub; Anchor Industry Partner ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India; SIP ₹240.18 crore.
  • Telangana — Old City cluster: Anchor Apollo MedSkills Ltd; SIP ₹241.01 crore.
  • Telangana — Patancheru cluster: Anchor Sri Siddharth Infratech & Services Pvt. Ltd.; SIP ₹275.24 crore.
  • Telangana — Sangareddy cluster: Anchor Neuland Foundation; SIP ₹240.94 crore.

  • Industry linkage: Emphasis on Anchor Industry Partners for demand-aligned curricula and placements.
  • PSU role: Measures approved to encourage greater participation by Public Sector Undertakings.
