Rajasthan Launches Raj-UNNATI on PRAGATI Model

Rajasthan Launches Raj-UNNATI on PRAGATI Model

Rajasthan has launched Raj-UNNATI, a new project-monitoring initiative based on the Centre’s PRAGATI platform. The system is designed to speed up the resolution of bottlenecks in major projects, government schemes, and public grievances. It brings together senior officials from the state and district levels through videoconferencing and online tracking.

What Raj-UNNATI Does

Raj-UNNATI reviews stalled or delayed projects of both the Centre and the State. It focuses on issues such as land acquisition, inter-departmental coordination, and administrative approvals. Directions issued in meetings are uploaded on the Chief Minister Information System (CMIS) portal. Timelines are monitored through an online tracker, supported by an escalation and communication matrix.

First Review Meeting

The first Raj-UNNATI meeting was held under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on 17 January. Seven projects worth Rs 1,943 crore were reviewed in the meeting. The platform is attended by the chief secretary, additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, secretaries, divisional commissioners, district collectors, and other concerned officials.

PRAGATI Model and Its Significance

PRAGATI stands for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation. It was conceptualised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 as an ICT-enabled, multi-modal governance platform. It is chaired monthly by the Prime Minister and connects central and state officials through videoconferencing. The model has been used to review hundreds of projects and resolve most identified issues, reducing delays and cost overruns. Rajasthan is the first state to formally adopt a similar framework under the name Raj-UNNATI.
