RCB Win Second Women’s Premier League Title

RCB Win Second Women’s Premier League Title

Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their second Women’s Premier League title by defeating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in the final at the BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara. Chasing 204, RCB completed the highest successful chase in a WPL final, reaching 204/4 in 19.4 overs. The victory also made RCB the first team to finish top of the league stage and go on to win the title, while becoming the first franchise to hold both the IPL and WPL crowns at the same time.

RCB’s Record Chase

RCB’s batting was built around a dominant stand between captain Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll. The pair added 165 runs for the second wicket and kept the scoring rate high throughout the chase. Every over of the innings contained at least one boundary, reflecting complete control over the target. Smriti scored 87 off 41 balls, with 12 fours and three sixes. Georgia made 79 off 54 balls, striking 14 boundaries. Their partnership broke the pressure created by Delhi’s total and ensured RCB stayed ahead of the required rate.

Delhi Capitals Post 203/4

Delhi Capitals produced a strong batting effort after being put in to bat. Jemimah Rodrigues top-scored with 57, while Laura Wolvaardt contributed 44 and Chinelle Henry provided a rapid 35 off 15 balls. Delhi reached 203/4, the highest first-innings total in a WPL final. The innings gathered pace in the death overs, with Delhi scoring 55 runs in the final four overs. Chinelle’s late hitting was especially important, as she attacked the bowling in the 18th over and lifted Delhi past the 200-run mark.

Key Performances And Match Turning Points

RCB’s chase began with an early wicket, but Smriti and Georgia rebuilt with aggressive stroke play against pace and spin. Smriti brought up her fifty with fluent boundary-hitting, while Georgia also reached her half-century and kept the pressure on Delhi’s attack. Delhi’s bowlers struggled to control lengths on a good batting surface. Chinelle Henry and Minnu Mani took wickets, but RCB remained in command. After Smriti fell for 87, Radha Yadav finished the chase with consecutive boundaries to seal the title.

Significance Of The Victory

The title marked a major milestone for RCB in women’s cricket. It was their second WPL crown and their first after finishing top of the group stage. The win also underlined the team’s batting depth and ability to chase a large target in a final under pressure.
