Shuvuuia deserti is an alvarezsauroid dinosaur belonging to the Late Cretaceous period. It roamed the deserts of the ancient Mongolia thousands of years ago. Detailed anatomical studies of this dinosaur revealed that it had extreme low-light vision and specialised hearing acuity, rivalling the barn owl. This is the first time to find a fossil containing these two traits. It is highly probable that these dinosaurs are nocturnal.
