The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched TribeX on 7 July 2026 in Bhubaneswar as a digital learning platform for tribal arts, languages, traditional knowledge and skill development during the National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs).
Platform Offerings
- Certificate courses: 20 free online courses currently available on tribal paintings, handicrafts, handloom traditions, artefacts and musical instruments; target to expand beyond 100 courses.
- Post Graduate diplomas: Five UGC-recognised one‑year hybrid PG Diploma programmes offered, including Tribal Language: Santali (Ol Chiki) and Museology and Tribal Museum Management.
- Mode: Hybrid delivery combining online modules and in-person components suitable for skills and museum-management training.
Heritage Archive & Content
- Archive size: Over 5,000 multimedia resources documenting tribal festivals, oral traditions and socio-cultural practices; plan to reach 10,000 resources.
- Content types: Video, audio, images and textual documentation intended for learning and research use.
Institutional Linkages
- Ministry partnership: Platform developed under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs framework for TRIs.
- Academic MoU: MoU signed with Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, for delivery and recognition of PG Diploma courses.
- National Workshop link: Launched during the TRI strengthening workshop that will frame the Bhubaneswar Declaration on tribal research institutes.
