An innovative value-education initiative, Young Ambassadors of Change – Values for a Caring Community, has been launched at the Govt Aadi Dravidar Primary School in Kattur. The programme aims to nurture moral values, social responsibility and positive habits among young children through simple, child-friendly methods.
Purpose of the Initiative
The programme focuses on building core values such as honesty, kindness, respect, responsibility, patience, discipline and gratitude. It seeks to help students understand that education is not limited to academics, but also includes character formation and overall personal growth.
Teaching Method and Daily Practice
Teachers narrate value-based stories during morning assemblies. These are followed by prayers and reflections that reinforce good behaviour. Students are encouraged to practise these values in school and at home through daily activities. The approach is designed to make moral learning practical and easy to follow.
Participation and Assessment
Parents are involved through WhatsApp communication, which helps extend the initiative beyond the classroom. Children are divided into batches that rotate every 15 days to ensure equal participation. Instead of marks or registers, teachers assess students through observation and encouragement, making the process supportive rather than competitive.
Motivation and Community Impact
Character badges and value-based quote walls displayed at school and home are used to motivate children. The initiative aims to create a caring community by showing how small actions can strengthen families, schools and society. It also reflects a wider educational approach that combines learning with ethics, discipline and social responsibility.
