Pashujanya Yudh Abhyas (PYA), a national One Health mock drill by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying under the National One Health Mission, concluded on 3 July 2026 after a five‑day exercise (29 June–3 July) at Khari village, Vidisha district, Madhya Pradesh.
The Exercise
- Scenario: Simulated Influenza A (H1N1) outbreak in animals with spillover potential to humans and wildlife.
- Scale & timing: Five‑day national drill; third national‑level exercise under the National One Health Mission.

- Surveillance & early warning: Event detection, reporting chains and trigger points for alert.
- Field response: Outbreak investigation, sample collection, movement control, biosecurity and containment operations.
- Laboratory & risk assessment: Sample transport to BSL‑3 facilities, diagnostic workflow and rapid risk assessment.
- Coordination & communication: Incident management and intersectoral coordination across animal, human, wildlife, food safety and district administration; public risk communication.
