Project BRAHMANK of the Border Roads Organisation celebrated its 16th Raising Day on 29 June 2026 at Ranaghat, Arunachal Pradesh.
Mandate & Area of Responsibility
- Agency: Border Roads Organisation (BRO), under Ministry of Defence, develops strategic road infrastructure in border regions.
- Geographic scope: Siang, East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Shi-Yomi (Arunachal Pradesh) and parts of Dhemaji (Assam).
- Network maintained: Approximately 811 km of roads and ~86 bridges (culverts to major steel/arch bridges).
Key Infrastructure & FY 2025–26 Outputs
- Bridges inaugurated FY 2025–26: 13 bridges with cumulative span of 390 metres across Siang and Siyom valleys.
- Road surfacing FY 2025–26: 61 km blacktopped to National Highway & Development Layer (NHDL) specifications.
- Helipads: Developed for operational connectivity and logistical support.
Major Engineering Works
- Siyom Nallah bridge: 100-metre steel arch bridge on Along–Yingkiong axis.
- Simang Nallah bridge: 165-metre prestressed concrete (PSC) bridge on Along–Yingkiong Road.
Operational Features
- Primary role: Provide strategic and operational connectivity to Armed Forces and link remote settlements.
- Operational challenges: Rugged terrain, high rainfall and riverine valleys affecting construction and maintenance.
