Global Citizen Solutions released the Global Passport Index 2026 on 7 July 2026, ranking 197 countries across 14 indicators including Enhanced Mobility, Investment and Quality of Living.

Key Rankings and Scores

  • Top country: Sweden — overall score 96.05 (1st).
  • Top ten: Sweden; Switzerland; Finland; Germany; Netherlands & Denmark (tied 5th); Ireland (7th); UK (8th); Norway (9th); Singapore (10th).
  • United States & France: tied at 11th position.
  • India: slipped to 125th in 2026 from 124th in 2025; provides visa‑free access to 26 destinations.
  • Weakest passports: Afghanistan 197th (23.10); followed by Somalia (196th), South Sudan (195th), Yemen (194th), Syrian Arab Republic (193rd).
  • Regional pattern: nine of the ten strongest passports are European; Singapore is the only non‑European in top ten.
