BHASHINI Samudaye Workshop on Language AI

BHASHINI Samudaye is a collaborative workshop to strengthen India’s language AI ecosystem. It will be held on 13 January 2026 at Nalanda Hall, Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, under the Digital India BHASHINI Division of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The initiative supports the National Language Translation Mission and aims to reduce language barriers in digital access across Indian languages.

Purpose of the Initiative

BHASHINI Samudaye brings together language experts, academic institutions, civil society groups, and data practitioners. The goal is to co-create, govern, and scale language AI solutions for India. The initiative focuses on public digital infrastructure, community participation, and ethical data practices.

Key Themes of the Workshop

The workshop will begin with welcome remarks, felicitation of guests, and formal inauguration. Senior leadership from MeitY and BHASHINI will present the vision for a coordinated, sovereign, and inclusive language AI ecosystem. A fireside chat will discuss BHASHINI’s evolution as a national language AI platform and its role in governance, education, and public service delivery.

Platform Expansion and Collaboration

The programme will include sessions on BHASHINI’s platform capabilities, strategic priorities, and collaboration pathways with states and institutions. A dedicated segment on the BHASHINI Samudaye Platform will allow partner feedback and structured participation. Another session will showcase BHASHINI in Action through live demonstrations and use cases.

Data Systems and Citizen Participation

The workshop will also cover BhashaDaan, BHASHINI’s citizen contribution platform, and an Expression of Interest to strengthen data systems. These efforts aim to deepen data partnerships and align contributors with BHASHINI’s standards for inclusive and scalable data creation. The event underlines the push for multilingual, accessible, and democratised artificial intelligence in India.
