IBM has launched its first Infrastructure Innovation Centre in India at its new India Systems Development Lab campus. The Sangam Infrastructure Innovation Centre is designed to strengthen India’s role in advanced infrastructure engineering and artificial intelligence innovation. It will support both domestic and global markets and aims to help enterprises build secure, scalable and AI-ready systems.
Purpose of the Centre
The centre will work as a collaborative engineering hub. IBM’s systems architects and infrastructure specialists will engage with clients, independent software vendors, global system integrators, global capability centres and other ecosystem partners. The focus will be on developing AI-based solutions and accelerating enterprise deployment.
Technology Focus
The facility brings together hybrid cloud capabilities, advanced infrastructure technologies and AI solutions in one location. This integrated model is expected to help organisations modernise mission-critical systems and improve performance in AI-driven environments.
India’s AI and Infrastructure Push
IBM has positioned the centre as part of its long-term commitment to India. The company sees India as a growing hub for infrastructure design, build and scale operations. It also brought into light that infrastructure will be central to how quickly Indian enterprises can innovate in AI.
Business Trends and Investment Outlook
IBM cited a study by its Institute for Business Value showing rising enterprise spending on infrastructure. The study found that 58 per cent of Indian organisations increased infrastructure investment due to AI demand. It also projected a 19 per cent rise in infrastructure budgets in 2025. Around 43 per cent of organisations are either establishing or planning AI Centres of Excellence.
