India-Africa Forum Summit IV Launched

India has launched the logo, theme and official website for the fourth edition of the India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-IV), signalling a renewed push to deepen strategic, developmental and political cooperation with African nations. The summit will be hosted in New Delhi on 31 May in partnership with the African Union Commission. It is expected to bring together leaders from across Africa, representatives of regional organisations and Indian stakeholders to chart the next phase of the partnership.

Summit Theme and Purpose

The summit will be held under the theme IA SPIRIT – India Africa Strategic Partnership for Innovation, Resilience, and Inclusive Transformation. The theme reflects a broad agenda covering innovation, resilience and inclusive growth. The forum is designed to strengthen dialogue on shared priorities and create a roadmap for expanded cooperation across sectors.

Preparatory Meetings

A series of meetings will precede the summit.

  • The Senior Officials’ Meeting will be held on 28 May.
  • The India-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will be held on 29 May.
  • These meetings will review key areas of cooperation and prepare the agenda for the summit.

Key Areas of Cooperation

India-Africa cooperation has expanded through development partnership and capacity-building initiatives aligned with local priorities. The relationship now covers emerging sectors such as digital technology, fintech and innovation. India has also supported Africa through sustainability-focused global initiatives, including the International Solar Alliance, Global Biofuels Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and International Big Cat Alliance.

Strategic Significance

The summit comes at a time when India is seeking to strengthen Africa’s role in global governance and South-South cooperation. A major milestone was the inclusion of the African Union in the G20 during India’s presidency in 2023. India’s expanding diplomatic presence across Africa also reflects long-term engagement. The upcoming summit is expected to reinforce mutual respect, equality, solidarity and shared prosperity in the India-Africa partnership.
