The Kerala Legislative Assembly has gained a new public database that tracks the interventions of its members from 2021 to 2026. The platform, MLATrack.com, compiles Assembly-related data into a searchable format to help citizens, media, and researchers understand legislative activity in the State. It is presented as Indiaβs first database dedicated to tracking MLA interventions.
What the Platform Contains
The website provides individual profiles of MLAs, short biodata, constituency maps, and visual summaries of attendance, interventions, and questions raised. It also includes date-wise records of submissions, calling attention motions, adjournment motions, and other Assembly interventions. Questions raised by MLAs are linked to their answers, improving accessibility and transparency.
Data Sources and Coverage
The database has been built using publicly available records from the Kerala Legislative Assembly website and the Legislative Assembly Constituency Asset Development Scheme portal. It covers all 140 MLAs in the Kerala Assembly. The platform brings together Assembly proceedings in one place and offers a structured view of legislative work across sessions.
Key Legislative Statistics
- More than 68,000 starred and unstarred questions were raised in 16 sessions from 2021 to 2026.
- Some MLAs asked more than 1,000 questions.
- Forty-five MLAs recorded attendance of more than 95%.
- Many MLAs participated in over 100 debates and discussions.
- A few MLAs also introduced private member resolutions and Bills.
Significance for Public Accountability
The platform is designed as an information resource rather than a ranking tool. It does not rate or compare MLAs. Instead, it offers a factual repository that can support legislative research, public scrutiny, and informed debate on Assembly performance and democratic accountability.
