PM Modi Awarded Seychelles Guardian of Blue Horizon

On 28 June 2026 Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred Seychelles’ highest presidential distinction, the “Guardian of the Blue Horizon”, during his three-day State Visit (27–29 June 2026).

Award Details

  • Conferment: Awarded on 28 June 2026 by Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie; first time the distinction has been bestowed.
  • Grounds: Recognition for leadership in environmental conservation, sustainable development, Blue Economy promotion and climate action.
  • Dedication: Award was dedicated to nations addressing climate change challenges.

State Visit Deliverables

  • Visit and occasion: State Visit 27–29 June 2026; Guest of Honour at Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee National Day.
  • Parliamentary address: First Indian Prime Minister to address an Extraordinary Sitting of the Seychelles National Assembly (28 June 2026).
  • Agreements and finance: Multiple MoUs in Capacity Building, UPI, Health, Agriculture, Shipping, Space and Extradition; Line of Credit of INR 1,250 crore.
  • Material transfers: Handover of Fast Patrol Vessel PS LESPWAR, six ambulances, 10 utility vehicles and five laser-guided boats for Seychelles’ maritime security capacities.

  • Anniversary: Visit marked commemoration of 50 years of India–Seychelles diplomatic relations; joint commemorative logo released.
  • Honours tally: This is the 34th international honour received by Prime Minister Modi.
