The Ministry of Culture has launched VM Frames, a national filmmaking competition as part of the 150-year commemoration of Vande Mataram. The initiative invites citizens to creatively interpret the spirit of the National Song through visual storytelling. The commemoration in 2025 marks 150 years of a composition that became a powerful symbol of India’s freedom movement and cultural identity.
About the Commemoration
Vande Mataram was written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. It occupies a special place in India’s historical and cultural memory. The song’s portrayal of the motherland as the Divine Feminine inspired generations during the freedom struggle. The year-long observance is being carried out with the participation of States, Union Territories, Ministries, Indian Missions abroad, and citizens.
