The Indian Army has launched Depot Integration Management Edition (DIME), a pan-Army digital platform designed to improve logistics management through real-time visibility of stores and assets. The system aims to streamline supply chains from units to Army Headquarters and support quicker, data-driven decisions.
What DIME Does
DIME provides near real-time tracking of logistic items across the Armyβs ecosystem. It creates a common digital process for depots and units. The platform is intended to reduce delays, improve accountability and make inventory management more efficient.
Key Features
- Integrated dashboards for commanders.
- Exception alerts for unusual stock movement or shortages.
- Predictive stock analytics for proactive planning.
- Standardised digital workflows across depots and units.
Operational Impact
- The automated system is expected to reduce paperwork by about 70 per cent.
- It may compress the logistics cycle by nearly one-third.
- It offers near real-time asset visibility across the logistic network.
- It supports faster and more informed command decisions.
Development and Strategic Significance
DIME has been developed jointly by the Indian Army and the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N). The platform reflects the growing use of digital tools in defence logistics. It is also aligned with wider efforts to improve efficiency, transparency and readiness in military supply systems.
