The Department of Financial Services has launched the Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima for Central Government Health Scheme beneficiaries. The new insurance product is designed to provide cashless hospital care, access to modern treatments, and a wider hospital network. It is positioned as an optional retail health insurance plan for CGHS beneficiaries in India.
Key Features of the Policy
The policy offers indemnity-based in-patient hospitalisation coverage within India. It comes with sum insured options of ₹10 lakh and ₹20 lakh. The plan is intended to support treatment costs through cashless facilities and broader medical access.
Eligibility and Coverage Limits
The insurance is exclusively available to CGHS beneficiaries. A maximum of six members can be covered under one policy. The product is meant for families linked to the CGHS system and is not a general public scheme.
Co-payment and Affordability
The policy includes a co-payment component. Beneficiaries can choose between 70:30 or 50:50 co-sharing arrangements between the insurer and the subscriber. The plan has been kept free from GST to improve affordability for eligible users.
Availability and Purchase Mode
The policy will be available through New India Assurance Company Limited. Beneficiaries will be able to buy it through the company’s offices and online platform shortly. The launch adds a new insurance option for CGHS members seeking additional health coverage.
