AYUSH Export Council Marks Fourth Anniversary

AYUSH Export Council Marks Fourth Anniversary

India’s Ayush Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL) has marked its fourth establishment anniversary in New Delhi. The Council was created to strengthen exports of traditional medicine, wellness products and related services from India. It has become a key institutional mechanism for promoting the global reach of AYUSH systems and herbal products.

Role Of AYUSHEXCIL

AYUSHEXCIL works to support exporters through capacity building, export facilitation and regulatory compliance. It also organises B2B meetings, international exhibitions, seminars and outreach programmes in overseas markets. The Council functions in consultation with the Ministry of Ayush and with support from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Export Growth In AYUSH Sector

Exports of AYUSH and herbal products have shown steady growth. They rose by 6.11 per cent, from USD 649.2 million in 2023–24 to USD 688.89 million in 2024–25. This increase reflects stronger global demand for India’s traditional medicine and wellness products. The growth has also been linked to wider international outreach and improved export support after the Council’s formation.

Trade Agreements And Quality Mark

AYUSH systems have received formal recognition in bilateral trade agreements, including the India–Oman CEPA and the India–New Zealand FTA. These agreements include dedicated provisions on health-related services and traditional medicine. AYUSHEXCIL has also been entrusted with anchoring the Ayush Quality Mark programme, aimed at strengthening quality assurance and global acceptance of AYUSH products.

Institutional Significance

AYUSHEXCIL was registered as a Section 8 company on 4 January 2022 and was formally launched in April 2022. It was later notified by the DGFT as the nodal Export Promotion Council for the AYUSH sector. The Council now plays a central role in advancing India’s traditional medicine exports and supporting the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.
