Chintan Shivir 2026 Inaugurated for Ayush Sector

The Ministry of Ayush inaugurated Chintan Shivir 2026 in New Delhi as a two-day strategic conclave to review progress, address gaps, and prepare a future roadmap for the Ayush sector. The event focuses on policy direction, institutional strengthening, evidence-based research, innovation, and wider public outreach. It also reflects the government’s emphasis on integrating traditional systems of medicine with modern science and improving their role in public health.

Key Objectives of the Shivir

The conclave is designed to assess the outcomes of the first Chintan Shivir held in 2023 and identify actionable steps for the next phase of growth.

  • Strengthen education, research, and infrastructure in Ayush.
  • Promote digitalisation, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
  • Expand global outreach and public awareness.
  • Support a whole-of-government approach and inter-ministerial convergence.

Ayush and Public Health Focus

The Ministry brought into light the growing relevance of Ayush in managing lifestyle disorders through a holistic approach. The discussions are aligned with the broader vision of One Earth, One Family, One Future and the call for Heal in India, Heal by India. The sector is being positioned as an important component of healthcare and wellness, with increasing national and international recognition.

Insurance and Digital Outreach Measures

A major show was the exchange of a Memorandum of About between the All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, and the General Insurance Council. The agreement aims to expand insurance coverage and improve claim settlement for Ayush treatments. The Ministry also launched its official WhatsApp channel for real-time communication and citizen engagement. It additionally released revised benchmark rates for insurance coverage of Ayush therapies and a toll-free number, 1800-11-0008, for Ayush insurance support.

Policy Direction and Future Roadmap

The first day of the Shivir included sessions on progress review, evidence generation, global partnerships, and legal preparedness. The Ministry stressed that deliberations should lead to time-bound and practical outcomes. The discussions are expected to support the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through stronger institutions, better regulation, and wider access to Ayush services.
