IndiaSkills National Competition 2025-26 has begun in Greater Noida with participation from more than 650 young competitors across 63 skill categories. The event is organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with support from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). It is a key platform to identify and reward India’s best skilled youth and prepare them for global competitions.
Scale and Participation
The current cycle has recorded over 3.65 lakh registrations from all 36 States and Union Territories through the Skill India Digital Hub. Competitors reached the national stage after winning five regional rounds held across the country. The scale of participation reflects rising interest in skill-based careers and technical excellence.
Skill Categories and Assessment
The competition covers a wide range of skills aligned with industry and global standards. These include:
- Electrical Installation and Electronics.
- Web Technologies and Cloud Computing.
- Cyber Security and Industry 4.0.
- Autonomous Mobile Robotics and Additive Manufacturing.
- Unmanned Aerial Systems and Digital Construction.
A total of 43 skills are being conducted onsite and 20 offsite. Participants are assessed by industry experts on precision, creativity, efficiency, and adherence to standards.
Industry and Institutional Support
More than 200 industry partners are supporting the competition, including firms from automotive, electronics, construction, IT, retail, agriculture, tourism, and healthcare sectors. Sector Skill Councils, academic institutions, and government bodies are working together to ensure strong industry alignment. The event also reflects the emphasis of the National Education Policy 2020 on linking education with skills and flexible learning pathways.
Path to WorldSkills Shanghai 2026
Winners of the national competition will represent India at the WorldSkills Competition Shanghai 2026, often called the Olympics of Skills. The competition will continue until 2 April 2026, when winners across categories will be felicitated. The initiative supports Skill India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Viksit Bharat goals by promoting a future-ready workforce.
