Poshan Tracker Monitors Anganwadi Nutrition Services

Poshan Tracker Monitors Anganwadi Nutrition Services

The Poshan Tracker Application is being used to monitor more than 14 lakh Anganwadi Centres and nearly nine crore beneficiaries under POSHAN Abhiyaan. It functions as the main digital governance tool for tracking nutrition service delivery, infrastructure and beneficiary coverage across India. The platform supports real-time data collection and helps authorities review implementation at the field level.

POSHAN Abhiyaan Framework

POSHAN Abhiyaan is India’s flagship National Nutrition Mission. It aims to improve nutrition outcomes through convergence of schemes, use of technology and community mobilisation. The mission covers key vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, children up to six years of age and adolescent girls. It is designed to strengthen nutrition delivery through better coordination between departments and frontline workers.

Role of Poshan Tracker

The application was launched in 2021 as a digital monitoring system for Anganwadi Services. It enables:

  • Opening and monitoring of Anganwadi Centres.
  • Daily attendance tracking of children.
  • Growth monitoring of beneficiaries.
  • Real-time reporting on service delivery.

The platform has improved visibility of ground-level implementation and has made data collection faster and more systematic.

Coverage and Beneficiary Monitoring

The system currently tracks services for pregnant women, lactating mothers, young children and adolescent girls. It helps identify gaps in nutrition support and infrastructure. The data generated is used by the Ministry, States and Union Territories to assess performance and service delivery under the scheme.

Significance for Governance

Poshan Tracker has strengthened evidence-based monitoring of nutrition programmes. It supports timely intervention, better accountability and improved planning for Anganwadi Services. The application is also important for assessing child health and nutrition indicators across the country.
