Delhi Partners Bharat Taxi Cooperative Platform

Delhi Partners Bharat Taxi Cooperative Platform

Delhi has become the first state in India to formally partner with Bharat Taxi’s cooperative mobility platform. The initiative aims to offer safe, reliable and transparent taxi services to tourists and residents, while improving the income and welfare of taxi drivers. The move also supports ease of living, ease of travel and ease of earning in the National Capital.

MoU Signed for Cooperative Mobility

The Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation signed a Memorandum of About with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Limited, the cooperative arm of Bharat Taxi. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Chief Minister and the Tourism Minister. Under the partnership, DTTDC will serve as the tourism and branding partner, while STCL will provide technology-enabled taxi services through its digital platform and driver network.

Tourism and Travel Services

The partnership will introduce curated taxi-based travel products for tourists. These will include:

  • Two-hour sightseeing circuits.
  • Four-hour sightseeing circuits.
  • Full-day travel circuits covering major attractions in and around Delhi.

It will also provide point-to-point city travel services to strengthen last-mile connectivity. The model is expected to improve convenience for commuters and visitors through transparent pricing and standardised service protocols.

Driver Welfare and Cooperative Model

A major objective of the initiative is to improve the livelihoods of taxi drivers. Under the cooperative ownership model, drivers retain a higher share of earnings than in conventional aggregator systems. They are also stakeholders in the cooperative structure, which gives them greater participation in decision-making and access to organised support. The government has linked this model to dignity of work, income stability and long-term financial security.

Broader Significance for Urban Mobility

The partnership is expected to strengthen Delhi’s tourism infrastructure and promote inclusive economic growth. It also aims to reduce dependence on unorganised taxi services and improve accountability in the sector. The initiative may serve as a model for other states and Union Territories exploring cooperative-based mobility solutions that combine technology, public interest and driver welfare.
