External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden during his official visit to Europe. The talks focused on expanding cooperation in financial services, investments, technology and innovation. The meeting also underlined India’s interest in deepening ties with Luxembourg and strengthening India–European Union relations.
Bilateral Cooperation
Jaishankar discussed growing economic and strategic engagement between India and Luxembourg. The two sides reviewed opportunities in financial services, cross-border investments, emerging technologies and innovation-led partnerships. The meeting reflected India’s wider effort to build stronger links with key European partners.
India–EU Relations
Jaishankar conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked Luxembourg for supporting stronger India–EU ties. Luxembourg has been an important voice within the European Union on deepening cooperation with India. The engagement comes at a time when India is seeking broader economic and political convergence with Europe.

- Luxembourg opened its embassy in New Delhi in 2002.

Visit to France and Luxembourg
The Luxembourg meeting was part of Jaishankar’s six-day official visit to France and Luxembourg. In Paris, he also met International Energy Agency Executive Director Fatih Birol and discussed global energy issues, including oil markets, nuclear power and critical minerals. He additionally interacted with participants of the French–Indian Young Talents Programme and is scheduled to meet French leadership during the visit.
