The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has revealed a new logo and mascot to strengthen its institutional identity, improve public outreach, and show the role of official statistics in nation building. The initiative reflects the Ministry’s wider push towards data-driven governance, transparency, and better public engagement with statistical systems.
New Logo and Its Meaning
The new logo carries the message of Data for Development. It combines symbols of India’s heritage with modern statistical science.
- The Ashoka Chakra represents truth, transparency, and good governance.
- The Rupee symbol at the centre marks the role of statistics in economic planning and policy making.
- Numbers and statistical symbols reflect modern data systems.
- An upward growth bar signifies progress and sustainable economic growth.
Colours and Design Elements
The logo uses saffron, white, green, and deep blue. These colours represent national values such as growth, truth, sustainability, stability, and knowledge. The design aims to reinforce trust and credibility in official statistics while presenting a modern institutional image.
‘सांख्यिकी’ Mascot Introduced
MoSPI has also introduced a new mascot named सांख्यिकी. It is designed as a friendly and citizen-centric figure to make statistics easier to understand for the public. The mascot is intended to present complex statistical ideas in a simple and visual form.
Public Outreach and Survey Participation
The mascot will be used in national sample surveys, awareness campaigns, educational content, digital platforms, and public events. It is expected to improve public participation in NSO surveys and build greater trust in official statistics through a consistent visual identity.
