It will be the first time that Sikkim hosts this prestigious national-level badminton event.

First National Badminton Event in Sikkim

The championship marks a major milestone for the state’s sporting profile. Hosting a national junior badminton event is expected to strengthen Sikkim’s position on India’s sports map. It will also create greater visibility for the state’s sporting infrastructure and organisational capacity.

Event Under Badminton Association of India

The tournament will be organised under the aegis of the Badminton Association of India. It will feature both individual and team competitions in the U-19 category. Young players from different parts of the country will compete at a high level, making the event an important platform for emerging talent.

Significance for Local Players and Sport Development

The championship is expected to benefit local athletes by giving them a chance to watch and compete alongside some of the country’s best junior players. It may also encourage wider participation in badminton across the state. The event is likely to support sports development, improve exposure, and inspire future talent in Sikkim.
