The Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and the Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX) have opened at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, showcasing advances in unmanned systems, robotics, simulation and training technologies. The seventh edition has drawn its largest participation since the event began in 2015, reflecting strong global interest in autonomous and defence technologies.
Largest Edition Since 2015
UMEX and SimTEX are featuring 375 companies and brands from 38 countries. Ten participants are joining for the first time. International firms account for 55% of exhibitors. The UAE pavilion is the largest at the exhibition, underlining the country’s growing role in the sector.
Focus on Autonomous and AI Systems
The exhibitions are denoting mission-ready unmanned systems, robotics and AI-enabled technologies. Displays include unmanned aerial and ground vehicles, counter-drone systems and live operational scenarios. A major attraction is the artificial intelligence versus human pilot drone challenge, organised with the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League, which demonstrates progress in autonomous flight.
Defence, Security and Civil Uses
The event places strong emphasis on defence and security applications. It also reflects the expanding civilian use of autonomous technologies in logistics, energy, agriculture, smart cities and public safety. The Ministry of Defence coding challenge is another key feature, allowing participants to solve real-world defence technology problems through coding and artificial intelligence.
Abu Dhabi’s Global Technology Role
High-level discussions and live demonstrations are central to the programme. The exhibitions follow the International Defence Conference held on January 19 under the theme Smart horizons – redefining defence through intelligent autonomy. Organised by ADNEC Group in association with the UAE Ministry of Defence, the event reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as a global hub for unmanned and autonomous technologies.
