Banned Items and Scope
- Items prohibited: Plastic cutlery, cups, plates, straws, trays, wrapping films, thermocol decorations, plastic flags, stirrers and plastic banners below the prescribed thickness.
- Prohibited activities: Use, sale, storage, stocking, distribution, transportation and supply of the identified items across Ladakh.
Penalties
- Violation fine: Rs 10,000 for individuals, commercial establishments, hotels and eateries contravening the ban.
- Littering fine: Rs 5,000 for littering in public places.
Enforcement and Evidence
- Authorised officers: Sub‑Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars and officers of the Ladakh Pollution Control Committee empowered to inspect and issue challans.
- Entry‑point checks: Random inspections at Leh Airport and other entry points for prohibited items.
- Evidence methods: Surprise inspections, videography, photography, CCTV footage and other electronic evidence may be used to initiate action.
