Pension services under the SAMPANN system have been integrated with the UMANG platform to improve access for pensioners of the Department of Telecommunications’ communication accounts network. The integration allows pensioners to view their Pension Payment Order (PPO) number and check the validity status of their Life Certificate through the UMANG web portal and mobile application. The move aims to make pension-related information available anytime and anywhere through a single digital interface.
Digital Access For Pensioners
The integration enables pensioners to use the UMANG app or web portal for key pension details. It reduces dependence on physical visits to offices for routine information. Pensioners can authenticate themselves using Aadhaar and access services on Android, iOS, and web platforms.
Role Of SAMPANN In Pension Administration
SAMPANN, or System for Accounting and Management of Pension, is a digital platform developed for pension administration and allied financial management functions. It was dedicated to the nation on 29 December 2018. The system covers the full pension lifecycle, including:
- Case initiation and processing.
- Issue of e-Pension Payment Orders.
- Disbursement and accounting.
- Reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Audit support and grievance redressal.
UMANG And Digital Governance
UMANG is a unified platform for government services offered by Central, State, and local bodies. It is part of the Digital India initiative and is available through mobile application and web portal. The platform supports service delivery in a transparent and user-friendly manner. Recent integration with DigiLocker has further expanded digital access to pension-related documents and services.
Benefits For Pensioners
The combined use of SAMPANN and UMANG supports pensioner-centric governance. It helps pensioners:
- Check pension payment status.
- Access PPO details.
- Verify Life Certificate status.
- Update personal details such as mobile number or address.
- Register complaints from home.
