General Upendra Dwivedi Enters US Army Hall of Fame

General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff of India, was inducted into the International Hall of Fame of the US Army War College at Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania, USA, on 24 April 2026. He became the third Indian Army Chief to receive this honour, after General V. K. Singh and General Bikram Singh.

US Army War College

The US Army War College is a senior professional military education institution of the United States Army. It is located at Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania and trains senior officers for strategic leadership and national security responsibilities.

International Hall of Fame

The International Hall of Fame of the US Army War College recognises distinguished alumni from foreign militaries. The list includes senior officers who have studied at the college and later held major command or staff appointments in their armed forces.

Visit to Carlisle Barracks

During the visit, General Dwivedi toured key facilities of the college and took part in academic engagements. These engagements included panel discussions and review of advanced study projects.

Professional Military Education

General Dwivedi interacted with faculty members and international student officers at the college. He addressed leadership, professional military education, and evolving security challenges during the visit.

India-US Defence Engagement

Earlier in the visit, General Dwivedi received a Guard of Honour at Fort Shafter in Hawaii, which is the headquarters of US Army Pacific. He also held discussions with General Ronald P. Clark, Commanding General of US Army Pacific, on India-US defence cooperation and collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region.
